All about Mulberry Silk

Explore facts and benefits

Silk is a luxurious material that exudes elegance and comfort. Mulberry Silk is known to be the finest and most luxurious Silk in the world. It is not only soft and breathable, but also hypoallergenic and durable.

What is Mulberry Silk?

Mulberry Silk is produced by silkworms that feed exclusively on leaves from mulberry trees (hence the name of the Silk). The silkworms spin a cocoon made of a single continuous Silk filament that can stretch up to several hundred meters. Mulberry Silk is made from these Silk filaments.

What are the benefits of Mulberry Silk?

One of the biggest advantages of Mulberry Silk is its softness. It is incredibly lightweight and feels like a "second skin" on your body. The material is incredibly smooth and gentle, which helps reduce friction and irritation on the skin. Due to its natural moisture-wicking properties, Mulberry Silk does not stick to your body or make you feel sweaty. Another advantage of Mulberry Silk is its hypoallergenic property. It contains Sericin and is therefore resistant to dust mites and other common allergens that can cause allergic reactions. Silk also has a natural resistance to mold, mildew and odors, which makes it attractive to people with sensitive skin and allergies. Mulberry Silk is known for its durability. It is strong, shiny and does not easily lose its shape. The fabric maintains its quality for a long time, and you can have your Mulberry Silk products for years if you take care of them.

How is Mulberry Silk made?

Silkworms feed exclusively on leaves from mulberry trees. When fully grown, the silkworm spins a cocoon made of Silk. The Silk threads from this cocoon are twisted together to form a strong and thin thread that is used in the manufacture of Silk fabrics.

How do you maintain and wash Silk?

Washing and caring for Silk is quite simple. When caring for and washing your Silk products, it is important to follow these guidelines to ensure durability.

• Wash the Silk at 30℃ on the extra gentle wool wash program. Hand washing is not recommended.

• Use liquid detergents specially formulated for Silk or other gentle liquid detergents. Do not use fabric softener or detergents containing bleach or enzymes.

• Wash inside out and with similar colors. Use a soft laundry bag.

• Do not use bleach.

• Do not use a tumble dryer.

• Gently stretch the damp clothing back to its original shape.

• Lay your clothes out to dry indoors or outside in the shade, so that they lie flat.

• Iron or steam your clothes on low heat to regain length and fit.

• Do not use dry cleaning.

• Our products may become looser in fit with use. The original fit will be restored after gentle washing and ironing.

• The garment will fade and the fabric structures will be damaged if washed at high temperatures and/or on washing programs that are different from the procedure we recommend.

Good to know:

Washing clothes at a lower temperature and for a reduced time in modern washing machines is just as effective as using a normal cotton wash program. The Cotton wash program is not as gentle as a Wool wash program, so even if the temperature does not exceed 30℃, the speed and spin speed will be too high, and the clothes will gradually be damaged.

Silk is a conscious choice choice. A natural material which is bio degradable.
